With the rapid development of economy and the rise of the total amount of the construction, the phenomenon of high energy consumption in builingds, especially national office buildings and large public buildings, is becoming prominent increasingly. And there is a huge energy-saving space. Reducing of the building energy consumption not only helps energy-saving and costs-reducing, but also contributes to a sustainable and healthy development of economic and society. However, due to the lack of a systematic, reliable and accurate database of energy consumption, energy-saving design of new buildings and energy conservation renovation for old buildings does not have data support. Therefore monitoring and collecting data of the buildings and identifying and lowering down the irrational energy consumption has become the key to solving the problem of high energy consumption. ZigBee is a emerging wireless communication technology with low complexity, low power, low data rate, and low-cost. Applying ZigBee technology to building energy consumption monitoring system can avoid the trouble of artificial collection and through-wall wiring, and won't lead to the inconvenience of people's work life too.This paper designed a building energy consumption monitoring system's communication network Platform, based on Zigbee and GPRS technology. Firstly, it analyzed the background of the subject and current research on building energy consumption monitoring at home and abroad, studied Zigbee technology and GPRS technology after comparing the existing wireless communication technologies, which was the technology base of building energy consumption monitoring communication network, and carried out the whole system design and functional design of various parts according to the design goal of the system, including the system overall network structure, network scheme and urban building energy consumption level 3 statistical analysis system. Secondly, the paper gived the hardware design of communication modules in the building energy consumption monitoring system, in which CC2430 was chosen as a wireless transceiver chip and LPC2364 as the coordinator's microcontrollers and SIM300CZ as GPRS module, and software design of terminal acquisition nodes, coordinators and relay routers respectively. Finally, the paper proposed a building energy consumption monitoring network routing algorithm based on efficient energy, after researching ZigBee routing algorithm and energy efficiency strategy routing algorithm, in which ZigBee node's energy state was divided into four and the residual energy of nodes and hop path were considered comprehensively. The algorithm simulation results showed that the energy consumption of the node was balanced, and to a certain extent, the network life was extended.
