With the grim situation of energy sources in the world, building energy saving catches more and more attentions in the past years. Real time, accurate and comprehensive energy consumption data plays an important role in the work of building energy conservation. Monitoring system of building energy consumption is constrained by wireless sensor network, which can effectively overcome the shortcomings of monitoring system of the traditional wired building, such as high-cost cabling, network inflexible, unreliable data transmission caused by the aging cable, unhealthy building environmental. In a word, it will have a great application prospect in the field of intelligent building. Therefore, it is of great significance to research and establish a practical platform for monitoring system of building energy consumption based on wireless sensor network.The paper focuses on clustering routing protocols of wireless sensor network in theory. On the basis of studying the relative literatures, this paper proposes a novel one called CMCRP based on competition mechanism for Wireless Sensor Network. Meanwhile building energy consumption monitoring system based on wireless sensor network is designed and implemented in engineering applications.The main achievements of this paper are as follows:1. For the energy constrained problems of wireless sensor network nodes, clustering routing algorithms such as LEACH are deeply researched. Considering the background of building environmental applications, the paper builds the network topology, designs WSN clustering routing protocol based on a competitive mechanism. Comparing with the existing protocols, the result of Matlab Simulation shows that CMCRP algorithm has a better performance in balancing network load and extending the network lifetime.2. Monitoring platform of building energy consumption is built, where main components are designed in detail including the architecture, function modules, data acquisition, system process.3. Choosing ZigBee technology to realize wireless sensor network, the network is formed by self organizing according to the model of clustering routing. Energy consumption data scattered in building such as water, electricity, gas is detected, transmitted to database server. The system realizes the function of data display in real time, data query, report / trends through the appropriate analysing and processing.
