Based on the current development situation of the expert system, this thesis studies the requirements of the expert system based on Web Services. The Web Services concepts and architecture, and the relevant technical specifications, which include XML, SOAP, WSDL and UDDI were studied deeply. Through investigation the existing problems and deficiencies of the current expert system, the framework of expert system based on Web Services is described. The new power unit start-up and commissioning of fault diagnosis expert system is a practical application to show its specific function. Using the Web Services technology, experts can share information, and mutual cooperation. It has important significance for the future research of the expert system.The main contents of this thesis are as follows:First the thesis simply introduces the research status of the expert system at home and abroad and the development of Web Services technology, and analyzes the traditional B/S and C/S structure of the expert system, as well as the current distributed computing standard. The main deficiencies of the current expert system are that the information cannot be shared between different platforms, language development system and interoperability. The research of the expert system based on the Web Services aims to resolve the status of expert systems function independently, and provides users a common platform-independent expert system.Second, this thesis studies the architecture and core technologies of the Web Services. Architecture is described from the service provider, UDDI registration center and the service requester. Core technology mainly includes XML, simple object access protocol SOAP, service description language WSDL and universal description, discovery and integration UDDI.Finally, according to the working principle of the expert system, this thesis presents a design scheme of the expert system based on the Web Services, and designs the main service interface. Based on scheme above, it uses component technology to package knowledge management and maintenance, fault diagnosis inference module, and develops the new power unit start-up and commissioning of fault diagnosis expert system which verifies the correctness and feasibility of the scheme.
