In nature, the technology of virtual reality is a human-computer interaction method. In the past, it's difficult to promote the technology of virtual reality because of the specialized equipments and expensive hardware. Nowadays, with the rapid development of Web 3D, desktop virtual reality system has applied into all works of life, which greatly reduces the threshold of virtual reality system and more and more people could study it. Although the emergence of desktop virtual reality systems greatly facilitate the development of virtual reality technology and enhance the enthusiasm of people for virtual reality research, there are a number of modeling standards which are not united. It is confused for people which standard to choose. So the transformation among different standards is need.In our paper, with the base of contrast of a variety of modeling languages, VRML/X3D standard and X-VRML standard are selected because they are highly similar. The similarity and difference of the standards are compared with and the transformation is completed between the two standards with the technology of XSLT. With this method, we unite the two. First, the technology of ontology is applied into the semantic problem of X3D and X-VRML standards and propose a similarity model based on thread tree then a prototype ontology framework is established which covers the core nodes of the two. With the help of the framework, the semantic integration and heterogeneity problems are solved well for the two standards. Then, with the base of the framework, we complete the transformation between VRML/X3D and X-VRML standards. At last, some illustrations show that the conversion is feasible and robust and has the less distortion.
