OBS is considered to be the most promising optical switching technology in the nextgeneration optical Internet. It is something of value in the theory and applied research to solve theproblem of that how to converge the access network represented by EPON with OBS in order torealize efficient interconnection between access network and core network. Due to the utilization ofintegrated node (I-node), the interconnection of EPON and OBS is an optimization scheme, inwhich the architecture is simple and the network is compressed. In this paper, based on thesecond-grade assembly mechanisms and the corresponding dynamic bandwidth allocation algorithm,a new kind of intelligent control scheme is introduced to realize the resource management, scheduling and coordinated control module. This paper mainly focuses on the technology of control plane in the interconnection network ofEPON and OBS, which is based on the GMPLS. A new scheme is proposed by analyzing thestructure and functionality of interconnection network based on I-node. In this scheme, it is realizedthat the combination of interconnection network and GMPLS network. The functional structure ofthe key node is extended to realize unified control and management level. The scheme discussed inthis paper achieves all-optical transmission in part of the business, and moreover, ensures reliableconnection and improves network survivability, through expanding the control information ofEPON and OBS network, while combining the dynamic bandwidth allocation algorithm whichsupports the second-grade assembly mechanisms. Moreover, the function of I-node is analyzed. Thefunction and structure of the I-node's controller are studied. On the basis of compatible and fusionthe control protocol of EPON and OBS network, I-node's controller is designed, by usingsecond-grade assembly mechanisms. Finally, modeling and simulation on the interconnection network scheme is done with the helpof OPNET Modeler. Results show that the controller of I-node can realize the function ofinterconnection network scheme, supports second-grade assembly mechanisms and thecorresponding dynamic bandwidth allocation algorithm, this scheme can improve business's delayand provide the high quality service.
