RFID(Radio Frequency Identification)technology is mainly used in non-contact objectsidentification based on radio frequency electromagnetic theory. It has the advantages of non-contactcommunicating, easy to read and write data, high communicating speed and good in data security.Working with no environmental limits, RFID technology can automatically identify and communicatewith tags by sending and receiving RF electromagnetic waves. Because of these, RFID is widely usedin logistics industry and traffic management. As a key module, the tag-reader plays a very important role in the whole RFID system. This thesisdesigns a UHF RFID system's baseband part according to the EPC Class1 Gen 2 protocol onEP2C8Q208C8 chips of FPGA. This chip has a good and stable data processing capability can meetthis design's demands. This thesis'main tasks are according to the EPC Class1 Gen 2 protocol, choosing the propercoding/decoding methods and telecommunicating parameters, proposing the design scheme of the PIEcoding module, FM0 decoding module and the CRC-5/CRC16 module. SOPC design NiosII embeddedsoft-core system in FPGA chip control section, including the timing control, such as statetransitions. Most modules have been implementen using Quartus II 9.0 on the tagert deviceEP2C8Q208C8analysis and synthesis and has been successfully.
