Construction Of The High-definition Television Non-linear Editing Network

HDTV is the important part of digital TV, which will be an inevitable trend of radio and television technology in our nation. During the post processing of TV program, the application of non-linear editing network makes the sharing of program material resources much convenient, and eliminates picture quality degradation induced by synthesis and copy of video cassette. In the construction of HDTV non-linear editing network, the major concerning issue in the radio and television industry is how to configure network resource rationally and effectively, improve efficiency and quality of News program production, and reduce the cost.To meet the developing requirement of GDTV News Center, and upgrade the efficiency and quality of News program production, the GDTV News Center which the author work for, began a project in which a whole new HD non-linear production and broadcasting network was established. In this paper, several aspects of the project above was discussed theoretically and practically, including project background, solution design, project construction, system performance evaluation and so on. The principal work the author had done was given below:(1)System analysis was made on the basis of practical usage of HD non-linear editing network in GDTV News Center, and the goals and parameters of system planning were concluded.(2)Considering practical condition of the project, a detail implementation, in which different requirement was dealt with, was proposed after dedicated investigation. It is the most crucial part in this paper, in which system network structure, storage system, safety design and software design were researched and discussed.(3)An effective system performance evaluating solution was proposed according to the standard of radio and television industry. An overall testing and analysis of GDTV HD non-linear editing production network was implemented, including video & audio performance, picture quality, payload bandwidth condition and so on.The establishment of this project conforms to the developing trend of digitalizing and networking of TV program in our nation, provides provincial TV station with an applicable HDTV non-linear production and broadcasting networking solution. The achievement of digitalize and networking of TV program production, sharing of program information, broadcasting automation and scientific management can be realized by spreading the method of this project in GDTV. By this means, TV program quality and operating efficiency can be improved, while operating cost and labor intensity can be reduced.
