Along with the application of computer technology in present society, the systems using computers as platform are also developed rapidly. With the in-depth research of theory and the advancement of application, the computer software theory was applied in more and more fields. And the photoelectric vertical target measurement system as the main test equipment in a shooting range. Due to the target surface increasing and more complex of design and operating, virtual technology is introduced to photoelectric vertical target measurement system is an effective way to solve such problems.The paper makes further research according to the photoelectric vertical target virtual experimental simulation system, which involved key technology, target equipment and virtual simulation. On the basis of theoretical research, the paper simulated the images of CCD camera captured, processed the projectile images with template matching method, and handled capture rate model which built by system with simulation.The paper based on the primary concept of virtual experiment, analyzed important equipment, technical parameters and working principle which were used in the photoelectric vertical target measurement system. It designed light source of the analog system against to indoor measurement environment, and modeled for CCD target system measuring the target projectile. In the virtual test environment, it analyzed and simulated the measurement error of the analog system, obtained the capture rate of the specific target surface size and the specific target parameters in simulation system. Through simulation and range test under certain conditions, the paper developed a model of the projectile capture rate in the virtual environment, made a good foundation for further study of the large target surface vertical target system.
