Air navigation refers to the process that aircrafts guided by on-board navigation equipment fly safely, accurately, and punctually from one location to another. The main methods of air navigation include landmark navigation, radio navigation, and modern navigation. Flight preparation and implementation of small and medium aircrafts that lack modern navigation equipment such as GPS need a large number of navigation calculations. Projects of navigation calculation mainly include conversion between different units of the same quantity, calculation of navigation direction and ground speed according to the known wind speed, track inspection and correction of visual flight and radio navigation, and calculation of various elements of instrument approach maneuver flight.To handle the problems incurred by the usage of five-type ruler in civil aviation, this dissertation has carried out deep research about each function module and related calculating methods of the calculator. Through software and hardware designing, system integration, and integration testing, completion of the portable air-navigation calculator has been successfully achieved. The main research contents include:1. Through the demand analysis of functions of the calculator, calculating projects required by ground preparation of air navigation and air implementation are summarized. Function modules of the calculator are determined.2. Elaborate research has been done on the theory that civil aviation five-type ruler calculates the air wind. The calculating method has improved and an accurate calculating method and calculating procedure are put forward.3. Based on the principle of ergonomics and given the usage convenience by pilots, a detailed investigation has been done about the size of the calculator and the layout of the screen and buttons. Corresponding relationship between various function buttons and air-navigation calculating modules are determined.4. Take AVR as the simulation platform for the function modules of air wind calculation. All the function modules are in turn simulated by AVR software compiling and integrating (Image Craft IDE for ICCAVR(PROFESSIONAL) )to ensure the correct input and output format as well as the result.5. Make ATmega32L as the microprocessor, MOBI2007 as the monitor for the calculator , and keyboard as the data entry. Research and development of the air-navigation calculator have been achieved.
