| Utilization of GPS (Global Positioning System) navigation devices is booming remarkably at the present time. Although the civil navigation devices market is dominated by GPS vehicular navigation systems nowadays, the proportion of personal portable navigation devices is rising dramatically as well. Since 2001, the vehicular navigation market has been transferred from the devices mounted inside cars to the PNDs (Personal Navigation Device).A design project of PND system including the hardware and the software is provided in this dissertation. The PND designed utilizes the technologies of embedded systems and has advantages of lower cost, smaller size and easier-carrying, which could solve the problems that the vehicular navigation devices are too heavy to be carried on body.The author describes in detail the design theories and the realization methods of the navigation software system. The emphases are on the analysis and discussion about the core algorithm on map browsing, map match and route planning etc. The methods proposed in paper integrate the professionalism and the advantages of operating easily. The navigation software design of Mio C720 is introduced as example to analyze the design capability.Considering the competitors' circumstances and the design cost, the project in this dissertation occupies a certain degree of market maturity. Productions based on this project have already been marketed. |
