Calculator chip is a typical kind of digital large scale integrated circuit.It consists of microprocessor and peripheral display diver and keyboard interface circuit. Almost calculator can finish basic arithmetic and root square operation. The science calculator can even process trigonometric function, exponential function and logarithmic function.This project is based on the layout of calculator. First, the entire circuit diagram is got from the layout, and then the analog simulation and digital simulation is performed. Second, modules are extracted according to the function and then the hardware circuit design of calculator chip is analyzed. Third, the software process is understood though analyzing the command of every key and summarized the command code sheet.The chip of the calculator consists of several function units, such as power management module,clock module,ALU, control register ROM, address generating module, address decoding module, register group.Each unit is extracted from tile circuit,and analyzed detailedly in framework,configuration and design approach.In this paper, the port multiplexing implementation process of keyboard scanning and display output is analyzed and the operating principle of these two modules is also analyzed respectively. The necessary of building digital simulation platform and its building process is discussed.Through the research of this project, we have a deep understanding of the hardware circuit design and software program process; prepare more knowledge for designing more complex calculator.
