As an active means of remote sense imaging, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) has widely used in environmental protection, military reconnaissance, ocean observations and geological mapping. In the development of high performance SAR, the echo signal of specific parameters is required. Therefore, the signal simulation technology of SAR is significant. On one hand, it provides reliable echo data for determination and optimization of systems and algorithms. On the other hand, it provides an effective method of research on SAR interference.The main content of this thesis is the simulation of synthetic aperture radar echo signal. Deception jamming to SAR requires precise SAR echo signals, which are generated by simulation. In order to achieve an effective deception, designing corresponding echo signal according to false target is the key point. The main job is creating real-time information of amplitude modulation and phase modulation, which is used to modulate the received echo signal. However, a huge number of data computation and time consumption are all required in the generation of modulation coefficient and real-time modulation of radar signals. In order to achieve SAR echo simulation fast, an improved method of modulation coefficient is adopted in the paper. The Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) is used as the kernel chip in the whole system, which including image modulation coefficient generator, digital tapped delay lines and associated circuitry. Each modulator is imposed to modulate amplitude and phase information in delay lines. The system known as digital image synthesizer has its ability to synthesize false targets using wideband chirp signal of any duration. The real-time alteration of operating parameters is the feature of the system.The paper includes full system simulation and digital image synthesizer hardware implementation description.
