Nineteen fifties is radar imaging technology development period, it is an important time for the development of radar, and later with the development of economic society and the progress of science and technology, radar imaging technology mostly synthetic aperture radar (SAR, Synthetic Aperture Radar) mainly. The airborne and spaceborne SAR application has become increasingly common, using SAR high resolution capacity, and other radar technology integration, at the same time, SAR can also complete the scene of height measurement, as well as in the scenes displayed in the moving target on the ground (GMTI). Most of the current real-time SAR imaging system is based on the DSP as the core computing unit and can get submeter resolution, image quality may be similar and comparable to the use of optical image. However, under the new situation of radar technology is also facing a variety of problems, from various aspects influence. Supporting the development of technology, the basic theory research, imaging and information application, spatial resolution, can increase the extraction of radar data in deep-seated information problem is worth pondering, urgently awaits to be solved, in order to promote China’s radar technology to get new bigger development.The paper first reviews the radar imaging technology development status at home and abroad.An overview of SAR imaging principle and imaging algorithm.Then the SAR imaging and real-time signal processing system of the overall design is introduced and analyzed and in DSP with detailed data processing.Finally we introduce the SAR imaging real-time processing system design of FPGA.The design of the whole system closely to temporal distribution, expansion and merging technology, pay attention to at the same time lines, parallel processing and other basic design techniques are applied, has the advantages of high stability, high real-time performance, low power consumption and easy expansibility.
