Non- professional quality is an important part of the university students' competitive ability, it is very important even vital for finding job and developing. With the employment situation of postgraduate becoming more and more severe, IT, as one of the popular professionals, also confronts with the difficult problem of employment currently. So that employers pay more and more attention to university student professional quality as well as non-professional quality. However, currently, the quality of the exiting non-professional belongs to basically speculative, lacking of quantitative evaluation of scientific and quantitative. The purpose of this research is to try to make up a Non-professional Quality Questionnaire for university students, in order to investigate the case of non-professional quality of university students. For example, to research whether there is difference among different levels of college students on non-professional quality or not, and to difference among different grade in the same school on non-professional quality or not, and analyze the reason for the reference of the college's training and assessment model.In this research, based on a comprehensive analysis of a lot of the university students'quality, we subdivided the dimensions and parameters of non- professional quality by depth interviews and expert assessment and other methods, established and revised Non-professional Quality Questionnaire, and exploratory factor analysis and item analysis were done to make a formal reliability and validity. At the same time, using the formal questionnaire as measuring tool, we compared the difference of 900 students of IT professionals from three colleges and three universities in different grades in Changsha, in the dimension of school levels and grades.The main findings of this study were as follows:1. Students of non-professional quality of the questionnaire consists of eight dimensions, namely, ideological and moral qualities, organizational coordination skills, social skills, the ability of problem solving, environmental adaptability, career planning ability, knowledge of psychological and non-professional quality.2. The questionnaire had good reliability and validity.3. The difference between undergraduates and college students in the dimensions of ideological and moral qualities and ability to organize and was not significant, undergraduate students was better than the college students in problem solving ability, career planning capacity, psychological, non-professional knowledge quality, but weaker in the social interaction skills and ability to adapt to the environment, the differences were significant; either college students or undergraduates, with the higher grade and enhanced, but in the ideological and moral quality of the dimensions was not significantly improved. 4. The author proposed targeted education strategies and some related suggestions for university students based the result of this study.
