Recently, field devices in the large-scaled multi-bus control system exhibit the characteristics of large variety in device types and fieldbus protocols. This urges that enterprises make higher and higher requirements of device management in aspects of openness of platform, compatibility of different fieldbus protocols and availability of advanced functions. In face of those characteristics of the large-scaled control systems, traditional device management systems can not meet the need of industrial enterprises.Aim at elevating the performance in aspects of openness of platform, compatibility of different fieldbus protocols and availability of intelligent device management, this paper makes deep research on device management technology and analysis of the requirements of device management, and then proposes the whole design of device management system based on FDT/DTM technology.The proposed design takes use of the C/S model. This paper focuses on the design of Frame Application, communication DTM and gateway DTM. The proposed design of Frame application uses COM technology to realize the key functions of indexing, embedding, operating and managing DTMs, besides by integrating different DTMs it achieves the goal of integrating different devices of different types and from different vendors into a unified environment, which means the strategy fulfils the requirements of the openness of platform; the design of communication DTM highly elevates the compatibility of different fieldbus protocols by implementing the communication FDT-based interfaces according to different fieldbus protocols, besides it solves the problem in interoperability of different bus by combing XML technology in data processing and realizes the concurrent read/write operations through multi-thread mode in communication; the design of gateway DTM, by taking the strategy of communication channel management, resolves the difficulty in mapping the topology of the hardware system with gateways.Through applying the solution in device management of multi-bus control system, the designed system successfully realize the integration of devices of FF, HART and other protocols, as well as the support of advanced functions like self-diagnosis and predictive maintenance. The test result confirms that the design of the device management system has a more open platform, is better in fieldbus interoperable, and available of advanced functions.
