Optical grid takes optical network resources as grid resources. Taking the advantage of opticalcontrol plane and optical transmisson plane, optical grid integrates optical network resources withother grid applications resources, in order to provide dynamic and controllable distributed gridservice. With the development of information technology, it goes without saying the importance ofoptical grid. And a new information revolution is launched on a global scale.Until now, there are still many unresolved problems, mainly: establishing the architecturestandards of optical grid; allocating the bandwidth on demand; establishing the optical channelfaster; abstracting and encapsulating the optical network resources, and so on. This thesis attemptsto find, monitor, manage, schedule on demand optical network resources as grid applicationresources, in order to ultimately improve the architecture of optical grid. This thesis first starts from the research progress of the grid technology, and come to theapplication prospect and further analysis of the major problems in the design of optical gridarchitecture. This article focuses on the design of an agent of optical network resources, as well as adetailed analysis of the internal modules. And the agent of optical network resource is incorporatedinto the existing system of GT4, so that GT4 can schedule any resources including applicationresource and optical network resource. Finally, GT4 release the Web Service of the optical networkresource. The experiment realize the effective corporation of the agent and GT4, and verifies thevalidity of the design. This thesis is a shallow analysis of optical grid, and has an auxiliary value for the futuredevelopment of optical grid in future.
