Grid is the technology which can organize, share and use information resources dynamically in wide areas, including computer, storage, shared devices, communication infrastructure, etc. The rapid development of grid technology made more stringent network performance requirements. Optical network, with its large bandwidth, low latency, high reliability, low cost characteristics, is becoming "first class" grid resources, then the concept of photonic grid emerging. The technology of optical network services provide has become a hot research topic in the grid field.The influnce to the next generation information technology of grid were reviewed, and the key problems of the optical grid was analyzed deeply. The optical grid architecture, and the service provision technology of the optical network resource has been studied.Firstly, the architecture and its components of the middleware which provided the optical network service have been designed, and the process of service providing has been analyzed to adapt the requirement of grid applications according to the designed architecture. Then the entire process of optical network services providing has been modeled by UML. Finally, the routing computation components was design detailedly. In the process, the internal structure was designed firstly according to the functional requirements and modelled by UML. A simple and astrictive routing algorithm was proposed, and its performance was analyzed by mathematical method.UML tool is adopted to modeling the process of optical network services providing and routing calculation components. UML modeling is the foundation for, therefore, not only the class diagram is used to establish a staic structure model, but also the activity and timing diagram is used to model dynamic behavior. Such modeling and analysis lay a solid foundation for software realization and making products on the market later.This paper provide the system analysis, architecture design, component design and UML modeling of the model for providing optical network services, and lay a theoretical foundation for further research.
