Poly-Si wafer is an important component in the PV light-electricity convert. Poly-Si wafer production process needs to utilize a kind of equipment named SQUARER, which adopts steel wire with slurry carried, makes silicon ingot into square for the next process of wire sawing, therefore the SQUARER in PV is a key equipment. The main requirements for SQUARER control is how to make steel wire at high speed running backward and forward in the cutting processing with a constant tension kept for cutting out qualified silicon. To meet this requirement, there is a series of technical problems to be solved, such as how to prevent breaking line in the cutting process, how to send the steel wire in reverse direction, how to control the steel wire with constant tension, how to increase the utilization ratio of steel wire back line and so on. These engineering problems constitute the main research contents of this paper.In the paper, the key technique points will be focused on the following issue: the high speed running of steel wire, the backward and forward operation modes, the characteristics of constant tension control, etc. Besides, the sending control design of the steel wire, the S curve calculation of the speed, the PID controller design with the performance improved are all involved in this paper. And through theoretical analysis, prototype design and industrial field test, the research of the theory combined with practice proves the feasibility and effectiveness of the studying fruit in the paper.
