This paper design a network system that is constituted by smart sensors with CAN bus interface.The smart sensor in network can complete the work of real-time capturing and transfering of images, temperature and humidity. Meanwhile, it has the function of video surveillance, and data analysis. And the smart sensors are connected to the host computer through CAN bus to found a sub-network. Further, all host computers are connected to the sever in monitoring center through Ethernet so as to constitute the whole intelligent network system,which can effectively meet the needs of data acquisition for which nodes are widely distributed, and the needs of real-time monitoring. Smart nodes that are low-cost, low power consumption, small size, and more abilities, are used to build a low-cost and full-featured multimedia smart sensor networks. Compared to existing smart sensors, an important breakthrough point of smart sensors designed in this paper is that the smart sensor can capture images, and transfer image data through CAN bus in limited network bandwidth.This paper can be divided into three parts by the content.The first part is mainly about the design of smart sensor network system based on CAN bus. We present the overall design and working principle of intelligent sensor network systembased on the structure, functions and characteristics of CAN bus. Finally, the selection of processor and network interface of smart sensor nodes is given.The second part is about the hardware design of smart sensor nodes, which contains the power supplying module, data acquisition module, data processing module and network interface module. We describe the hardware design of each module of smart sensor in detail, and give specific hardware circuit design diagram. Finally, the design of PCB and the tips on debugging are summarized.The third part is mainly about the software design of smart sensor based on embedded LINUX. The software design involves the establishment of the embedded Linux system, the driver design of the CAN controller and the temperature-humidity sensor of smart sensor based on Linux 2.6 kernel, and the application design for the function of smart sensor.
