With the development of the computer, communication and automation technology, people pay more attention to the comfort and safety on the daily life, and the Smart Home technology has great significance on improving the quality of life. Base on the analysis the technology of the Smart Home, we design an Environmental Control System of the Smart Home.The Environmental Control System can detect the environmental parameter such as the temperature, humidity, brightness and so on. The Environmental Control System can accommodate the environmental parameter to the comfort level after detecting the parameter and processing them.The Environmental Control System is composed by four parts: the Client, the Main Controller, the Wireless Sensor Network (WSN for short) and the Actuator.The Main Controller use the embedded CPU as the hardware core, and its software platform is the embedded real-time kernelĪ¼C/OS-II. The Main Controller uses two control methods, which are auto control and manual control to adjust the environmental parameter. The Main Control has another function is to connect the home network to the external network. This makes the customer can get the home network data even he use the external network.There are some shortcomings such as wiring, inconvenient to add or delete the node in the network, a huge number of cables needed if there are so many nodes and so on. So we use the Wireless Network instead of the Cable Network.The WSN include many different kinds of sensor node, these sensor nodes are responsible for detecting and sending the environmental parameter to the Main Controllor, receiving the command data from the Main Controller and instructing the Actuator to regulate the environmental parameter. The node is designed base on Low Power Strategy both in the process of hardware and software design.We tested the system after it was designed out. The system can achieve the function of detecting and regulating the environmental parameters. The system worked stable, and it reach the desired goal.Finally, in order to inspect and verify the WSN's running state when it was in a more nodes network environment and then there were some cases such as a node increased by adding a household appliance, a Routing Path was broken because the customer changed the layout of the housing, moving node send data to the Main Controller and so on. So we use the TrueTime1.5 tools box in the Matlab7.0/Simulink environment to simulate the WSN we have designed. The simulation results show that the WSN running in a good condition when it faces the situation referred above.
