The Artifact-Centric Workflow Technology And Application

Workflow is a new developed technology in the field of current computer application and computer information. The workflow-based management system has become a trend and a basic platform for software development, especially in the information system, workflow has turn to be a distinguishing mark of whose normalization and advancement. But with the growth of enterprises and the highly competitive business environment, the traditional workflow systems exposed in the application various problems, such as the complication of business process model-building, lack of tests and effective monitoring management methods, lack of effective security management tools as well as the deployment difficulty, etc. Thus this paper proposes a JBPM (Java Business Process Management))-based and Artifact-centric workflow system to resolve the above problems appeared in business process model-building, process instance management as well as the authority management of systems.This studies deeply on the Artifact-centric workflow technology and applies it into the project management system of an auto accessories manufacturer. Firstly, basic concepts of workflow have been introduced and JBPM ---one of the extensively used workflow management products has been analyzed from process definition, process deployment mechanism, lifecycle of Artifact and Ops of Artifact. Then it applies the Artifact-centric workflow into the project management system by making use of Object-Oriented analysis and design as well as JBPM. The entire system can be divided into three layers, among which the view layer is independently realized via Struts framework, the business logic layer is achieved by improved and based on JBPM workflow engine developed from Spring framework, the data persistence layer is fulfilled by Hibernate framework. This paper discusses the research and implementation of workflow-based project management system from aspects of functional structure, operation architecture, database architecture, etc. It also describes the key technology achieved by the system along with the code, analyzes the implementation techniques of authority management and workflow process management in the systems. The process management focuses mainly on the definition, release and performance of business Artifact, Task, Repository and specific operation on Artifact in life-cycle.
