With the applications of computer and a variety of network communication technology in the garment industry, consumers'demand for apparel performance gradually is improved. It prompted the clothing enterprises to speed up update the previous three-dimensional body measurement system of the apparel, so that the products not only have a certain comfort in clothing, but also meet their fitness. Photogrammetric measurement is a body measurement method based on the incomplete data. It gets the length, width and depth data of body from the digital images through a variety of software, and then processes the data to be able to get the sizes that meet the requires for clothing production. The body measurement system of the apparel established in this way is simple and easy to operate, fast, accurate, with low costs, less demanding on the measurement environment, and have the basic harmless of the measurement object. It is suitable for general application in the garment industry.Because the two-dimensional plane data obtained from the digital images only contains the length, width and height digital information. Such incomplete of digital information cause some difficulties in the human surfaces establishment. How to use these incomplete data to conduct the body surface fitting is the key to calculate the three-dimensional through the photographic measurement, and the key to establish body measurement system of the apparel.The main research work of this paper includes the following aspects:(1) Choose the photographic measurement; demarcate the photograph system and the camera parameter. Obtain the digital image on the front, flank and back of the young women'mannequin using common digital camera;(2) Combine with the techniques for computer graph and image processing methods and VC++ language etc, we get the projection contour images from three directions of the mannequin, and extracted the necessary mannequin size of length, width and depth by analyzing the contour feature; (3) Analysis the relationship between human body surrounding and the corresponding width and thickness by SPSS statistical software, establish regression equation. Through fitting the curve equation, we calculate the real measurements of key parts for human body by the width and thickness size extracted from the images. Thus completing the establishment of human body measurement system based on the incomplete data.(4) Design 3D body measurement systems of the apparel based on incomplete data according to the result of the experiment. Setting measuring system and environment, designing the operation interface of the system, and using young women mannequin for verification. It provides the basis for later human body measurement.This paper researched in the edge extraction and characteristic dimensions extraction of digital images and surrounding modeling, and has achieved expected results. Due to the limitation on time and computer programming ability, the system of digital image processing and human data extraction makes a preliminary frame on mannequin. We need further perfection in actual human body image processing and data extraction. There are some deficiencies which need further research.
