At the end of 20th century, the development of human civilization goes into the information ear– the gordian techniques such as: computer technique, modern communication technology, network technology, database technology, information distribution technology, smart information processing technology, and information security technology are mature. This provides a solid foundation for the development of information technology and for the construction and application of large-scale information system. Now, Henan Polytechnic is working for the campus network construction, so how to utilize the available network resources and information technology to build the laboratory information management system in the college is one of the main tasks we have to solve. According to the current situation of the college, using of the existing network resource and web technology, we try to develop a laboratory information management system to achieve the management of laboratory in auto engineering department.Firstly, the paper compares the advantages and disadvantages of C/S and B/S, J2EE and .NET platform, fully considers the system's practical applicability, expandability and ease of maintenance, gives a system design plan based on light J2EE framework, analyses the functions of Struts2, Spring and Hibernate in the three layers software framework, and gives the development and running environment for the system. Then, this paper analyses the advantages and shortcomings of the current laboratory management system, gives the functional module structure and database structure of the training process management platform, Then, After that, we combine the persistence layer based on Hibernate and business layer based on Spring to offer the design and implementation of the platform, and combine the Struts2 tag library to give a working sketch of the main modules in the system. At last, the paper concludes the platform research and development process, analyses the platform's advantages and shortcomings, and prospect the rich internet application (RIA), which combines with the advantages of the rich of the desktop application and universality of the Web application, applying for the application of laboratory information management system.
