People's Daily life enjoy convenient more of the computer and network than before with the rapid development of them. The role of computer in the office is no longer limited document processing or simple calculations. It is more and more application in control, communication, and so on. Embedded system have numerous advantages. It has become more and more has the attention of the people because its portability.This subject is focusing on the embedded system in the domestic and foreign development present situation. I selected CORTEX-M3 as micro controller of embedded system. I Designed a multi-functional communication interface platform. I hope it can be used in the application of control, monitoring and measurement. In the period of development stage, I studied and verified the knowledge of the embedded system. In future, I hope this system can provide a stable, reliable hardware platform and interface technology support which will use a series of this products.This thesis mainly described design a multifunctional communication interface platform based on the CORTEX-M3. According to the requirements of this platform, I selected appropriate chipset, and then designed hardware platform and software platform. After test, this platform achieved the multi-function communication interface. It achieved the goal of this design. The platform has advantages of small size, low consumption and multi-functional communication interface. It can support LED control, keyboard, USB, CAN, Ethernet interface and so on.
