Currently in the wave of rapid development of information technology, computer technology plays an important role in all aspects of human life. In the traditional areas of industrial control, software developer has to develop drivers for hardware every time. As long as there is a hardware device, there will be one corresponding hardware driver to be developed which declines system applications greatly. In the reliability, repeating availability and openness of system aspects, they all need people to improve. However based on the COM/DCOM, OPC technology comes which makes up the blank of industrial development history enabling software developers to develop hardware driver under the condition of no acknowledgement of hardware device. The advent of this standard makes data communication more convenient and effective.Considering expensive cost, relatively large size, heavy weight and other negative causes of industrial control computer, based on advantages of OPC technology, this thesis introduces embedded system into industrial control field and designs special computer with OPC Server function and makes out practical implementing program. This thesis mainly introduces the application of OPC technology, OPC technology foundation, OPC standard basic principles, interface realization, OPC specification in industrial control field. This thesis also analyzes and compares the characteristics of current popular processor cores. And for different application situation uses different processor core, this thesis analyzes actively the current popular ARM processor cores. Hardware circuit is also designed and the roles of every functional module are defined. Cortex-A8 core with fastest processing speed is adopted. Samsung's S5PC100 chip is used. The client and server all comply with OPC agreement and are connected by Internet. Data acquisition card is used to collect on-site data. All of the above mentioned make industrial control computers much smaller and more flexible. Meanwhile the practical value has also been improved.Implementing the embedded system with OPC Server in industrial control field not only brings convenience to customers but also makes the maintenance, update and other aspects of the control system much more easy and convenient.
