With the increasing supervision to the safety production of coal mine, however, for a variety of reasons, mine accidents also are happened from time to time. After the accidents, it is the key for relief work to report the place and situations of underground staff accurately.This paper formed ZigBee wireless locating network with CC2431 which had positioning engine. Meanwhile, it studied the CAN bus technology, this paper proposed a feasibility planning of extending CAN bus actual transmission distance. Based on this, it was designed a proposal of personnel tracking system underground. The system is divided into underground personnel tracking subsystem and monitoring management subsystem. This paper introduced in detail the hardware and software implementation scheme of underground personnel tracking subsystem, including location station, reference node, mobile positioning node, bus repeaters and communication processor design. In addition, it adopted the Microsoft Visual Basic and SQL Server 2000 software monitoring management system.This system can be used not only daily management and attendance, but also it can make sure the personnel position accurately in the accident. It can meet the actual demands of a coal mine enterprise and has high practical value.
