With the development of wireless communication by leaps and bounds, the workload of wireless signal processing, coding, transmission and storage is becoming more and more great. In order to adapt to various technique of wireless communication transmission network, software radio become developing direction of wireless communication system transceiver. The emergence of software radio makes multi-carrier, multi-mode wireless communication possible, and software radio is becoming one of the hotspots of research on modern wireless communication. Multi-rate signal processing is the key technique of software radio, mainly used in multi-rate transceiver processor of wireless signal.This paper focuses on research and design of sending processor on wireless communication and multi-rate, its core technique is digital up conversion. Modular design bases on top-down was adopted, the whole sending processor was divided into basic units, the baseband signal was modulated into digital intermediate frequency signal. In the specific application, optimizing each module to adapt to demands of wireless communication system.First of all, the paper's background and research status of home and abroad were analyzed. The theoretical basis of multi-rate sending processor was introduced. Then, the design scheme of the sending processor was elaborated, and the components of it were designed, analyzed and simulation by MATLAB. Its key modules are digital mixer and interpolation filter, and were lucubrated. The structure of implementation and points of design of CIC, HB and shaping filter were discussed in the part of interpolation filter, the amplitude-frequency characteristics and the ways to compensate for passband attenuation of the CIC filter were researched deeply. An improved method employs second-order IIR filter compensating the characteristics of passband and stopband of the CIC filter was proposed, by contrast with the existing ways to compensate for passband attenuation of the CIC filter shows outstanding advantage of the new method. At last, we make use of ISE software which belongs to Xilinx company as development environment, through compiling Verilog HDL codes and transfering Altera IP core to implement the functional modules of the sending processor. The result proved the feasibility of the design, and have a certain significance for further application of software radio in 3G.
