Welding robot has the characteristics in low failure rate and stable quality for car body welding . Most of the automobile manufacturers are using welding robots to instead of manual welding operations for body welding . Robotic welding ratio has become an very important measure standard of vehicle manufacturing quality . At the same time ,the domestic mini vehicle manufacturers achieve huge development in the recently years. There are several company have ability to produce more than one million vehicles every year . But the low robot welding ratio is big in contact to the huge production in these enterprises .Last year writer lead a welding robot modification project and summarized the experience in this paper . This paper do research about how to combine the"low-cost, high-value" concept with welding robot characteristics in mini vehicle manufacturing . Listing welding robot system design procedure for old body line modification or new line planning .This paper puts forward the method how to keep equipments running stable base on the reliably control architecture and the key equipments . The result of the study is not only good for mini vehicle line ,but also available for comment car line .This paper discussed from five aspects of welding robot systems . The discussion for body line reasonable layout base on the characteristic of Welding robot station and manual station ;Explain the importance of off-line simulation and figure out the method how to do the off-line simulation ;Do the research for the principle in building the control system architecture ;summary the features of key supporting equipments in welding robot system ;Analyze the application prospect of on-line measurement detector .
