With the development of new media, media convergence has become a necessary choice of traditional media, which is the hot issue for scholars in recent years. The Internet promotes the spread of social media. In China, Microblog has attracted more than 100 million users in around one year. This thesis is a tentative study of convergent journalism between Microblog and traditional media.This thesis traces the origin and development of Microblog and summarizes all the developmental stages. It provides proof for the necessity of convergent journalism between Microblog and traditional media. It also suggests and analyzes the eight identities of Microblog and explains how these identities help traditional media to make influence on the audience.In the light of applied journalism, this study describes and explains the mechanism of information collection and news expression in the reporting process of convergent journalism. This study has come up with the contours of four parts in the reporting process of convergent journalism. This study has also suggested three models in which traditional media effectively fulfill the task of news expression in Microblog.This thesis has a positive meaning for the development of Microblog as well as new outlook on journalism. It also suggests some useful ways in which traditional media benefits from Microblog to fulfill the task of news reporting.
