MES is a new generation of information system which targets at enterprise production and management. Its goal is to enhance productivity, reduce production cost, shortening the delivery time, improve customer service management. MES use computer network to link the automation isolation, it applys informative method to manage and optimize overall production process t implement the automation of the production and management process from product order to delivery of product. With MES, the enterprise can achive the full automation. With MES, the lower automation system and upper ERP system can be integrated seamlessly together. Obviously, MES is an indispensable attribute to information systems for the enterprises, it will play a huge role to improve our country's enterprise informatization level and overall operating efficiency.In the recent 10 years, automation technology of tobacco industry is developing rapidly, PLC, DCS and IPC technology are widely used in industrial process control, which makes our tobacco industry's automation level rises to a higher step. However, it is also accompanied that tobacco industry starts to face one after another localized automation isolation. Production process implements automation control, but production management is still manual work. Local optimization is done, overall optimization is not finished, which also obstructs the further advancement of production efficiency and benefit. Another problem is, there are many enterprises are building ERP system, but with the deepening of the enterprise information, people finds that ERP system can't solve complicated production management problems, and ERP system also looks like a castle in the air without real-time production process information, so it never works very well to reach the goal of the enterprise resource's optimization. There is a big gap between upper information system and lower automation system.This article is focused on the above problem, aims to figure out a information system which is fitful for tobacco industry management, and based on deep analysis of current tobacco industry's production and management condition, this article will explore out new MES solutions which is applicable to the tobacco industry.
