As the increasingly fierce competition in the manufacturing industry, the price of the product is no longer the only way to win the market, furthermore, the product quality and the brand image is also weighing more and more. The concept of quality management is deeply rooted in people’s heart, and therefore, the idea of Quality Management System (QMS) comes up. S company, one of the leading automobile light manufacturer, is planning to expand and optimize its QMS in order to improve the product quality and reduce the cost. After detailed investigation and analysis of the S company, some problems are found in its process of real time quality control and statistical analysis. A necessary change is needed to improve this situation and promote the products.To implement real time quality control, better collect the quality deficits data during the product life cycle for further statistical analysis, a platform of QMS based on the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) technology is proposed in this paper. By using ITIL technology, a scientific and effective structure can be developed and constructed to meet the management requirement and regulate the management process. This proposed system integrated the whole management process, including management strategy, management criteria and deposition of unqualified products. In addition, this system provides the engineers a highly efficient platform by statistical analysis on the product quality data.This paper first introduces the development of the QMS system today, and analyzes some of the existing problems. The ITIL technology is described in detail and introduced to the QMS system. A QMS platform based on ITIL technology is designed and developed according to a careful requirement specification on the S company existing platform. The performance of the proposed system is carefully discussed and some aspects of the system which can be further improved are also discussed.
