The requirements of enterprises and institutions for information processing have been increased for the perfected information technology. The workflow technology which provided a better solution for automatic workflow has been developed for enterprises and institutions which need an office system for automatic business flow. The office process have been automated and therefore have been more simple and efficient with the applying of workflow technology to the automatic office system development which provided the capability of modeling, analyzing, optimizing, managing and integrating for the office process.The application of workflow on outpatient service has been analyzed in this thesis. The theory about the technology, management system, modeling and implementations of workflow has also been introduced. By the applying of object-oriented technology, the establishment of processing model, organization model and state control system has been provided to the outpatient service management system. The control of each crossed activity workflow has been implemented by the processing models including authority distributing, form transmitting, E-mail sending and message prompting. By using . NET technology, C# language and SQL server 2005 database servers, the partial function of the outpatient service management system based on B/S mode has also been developed.The main functions of the system include the management of patient basic information, the management of patient history, the management of drug, the distribution of role, the distribution of task and the publishing of information. The result of the system initially running showed that the outpatient service management system based on workflow technology is a reasonable resolution; the optimization of partial business flow in the course of outpatient diagnosis and the real-time acquisition of information have been fundamentally realized, and the requirement of automatic outpatient service flow has been basically satisfied.
