With the rapid development and growing popularity of information technology in the twenty-first century, the human society is undergoing profound changes. The development of information technology has been enriching the ways and means of higher education, and as a result, dramatic changes have occurred at colleges and universities ranging from the educational environment, the educational model to the educational philosophy. In recent years, many colleges and universities have strengthened the digital campus construction, and the service operation systems relevant to college and university departments have also been established in different periods, due to which the development technologies and database systems adopted are not the same, leading to the lacking of a unified information system standard and the emergence of several so-called "islands of information" within colleges and universities. However, with the establishment of all these service operation systems, colleges and universities have been pressing for data sharing and real-time data exchange among different departments in that the traditional approach of disk copying or e-mailing has failed to meet the needs of these departments. All these factors taken into consideration, the construction of a digital campus platform for data exchange has become a vital option to colleges and universities.Based on the digital campus'construction status at Jiangxi Vocational College of Mechanical & Electrical Technology and a survey on the departments'use of service operation systems, this paper puts forwards a construction program of digital campus data exchange platform, with an aim to addressing the existing problems. After an analysis of the objectives for establishing the data exchange platform, it proposes an overall framework for the platform and an information standard construction program for colleges and universities. As to the exchange of heterogeneous data, the author of the paper comes up with his own solution---converting such data into XML data for subsequent transmission and transfer. Then, the paper probes into varied ways of data synchronization by which to verify the feasibility of synchronous data exchange between different service operation systems and the data center in the author's college. Finally, it briefly summarizes the main research findings, points out the research significance and limitations, and offers some suggestions for future research.
