Distribution transformers as an important power transmission equipment plays an important role in safe operation of the entire power supply. Distribution transformers in remote areas in recent years have often occurred to be theft and bring serious damage to the order of power in daily life. It brings great loss to the national economy and a lot of inconvenience in life. To seek a reasonable and effective measure to for protecting the distribution transformer is urgent to solve.This article is designed to monitoring of distribution transformers in rotate area. The design requires achieving the process of capturing the scene of the stolen. And it can transmit images of crime to the computer interfaces of the monitoring center to achieve the alarm in the whole process. Therefore the design is to achieve processing the compression of image and transmission of images. Firstly a brief description of the image compression and compare the means of transmission to choose GPRS as the advantages of image transmission. Secondly, the article includes the monitoring system for the system hardware design and software design. Hardware design is based on the ARM7 embedded systems to achieve the above Image Acquisition, Compression and wireless transmission of alarm. Hardware design, includes memory expansion, circuit design of GPRS module,, the implementation of serial communication, etc. The software part of the system includes software design of monitoring client, software design of control center and monitoring software of center communication terminal control partially achieved. The software design of the monitoring, includes the initialization of the processor, software design of GPRS module, software design of voice alarm module. Software of Control Center is built on top of electric power GIS platform, using SQL2000 back-end database and Visuals C # as a software development tool. Communication between the monitoring and controlling center is the structure of C/S network, using sock as the way for data communication.The results prove the design of the control system is lower power in this way,efficient image transmission. It is able to achieve well monitoring distribution transformer in remote areas. The security monitoring system has high practical value and research value. Prospects of it are bright.
