The modern conception of emergency communications mainly refers to the methods and means people take to use various communication resources, to rescue survivors when the occurrence of man-made or natural happens. The main contents of this paper is to set up an emergency communication system supporting audio and video transmission, by using laptop or other portable tools, which is based on WiFi. With widely using in the whole country, Windows is chose as the carrier platform, which makes the communication system we designed highly versatile.The main work of the paper:(1) Study the knowledge of wireless ad hoc network in-depth, and finally choose a routing protocol that can receive and process the message in emergency situation.(2) Study the capture, compression and transmission of audio and video, and implement the transmission of audio and video in ad hoc network.(3) Design and implement network systems.(4) Get the conclusion according to the results.In this paper, the core content of route is AODV, which can be implemented through operating the network driver interface. The environment chose to test system is indoor, and the result is good. The system has a dynamic network topology, meanwhile, while supporting audio and video transmission. All of this makes the communication between nodes become more intuitive and convenient. Meanwhile, the network also exits as an emergency communications system, which can be formed quickly and provide rescue staff with timely and basic communication services.
