With the development of the data management and information processing and o ther high-tech, the research pace of shipbuilding informatization is accelerating, in or der to achieve shipbuilding great power, researchers at home and abroad have further developed a number of CAx applications that also used today, such as CAD(Compu ter Aided Design), CAPP(Computer Aided Process Planning), CAM(Computer Aided Manufacturing) and so on. However, with depth applications of these highly specializ ed and self-contained CAx systems, these units have improved work efficiency, but a lso can produce some problems, such as the data cannot be shared, information exch ange is blocked. This paper is to study and discuss the key problems of construction of the information service platform, and attempts to offer an effective solution.In this paper, PDM(Product Data Management) system is the object of study, on the basis of analyzing of the problems that existed in the construction of shipbuildi ng informatization and the application status of PDM systems at home and abroad, t he specific problems is raised. With the depth study on the theory of several data in tegration and management technology, we put forward a viable data sharing solution based on STEP(Standard for Exchange of Product Model Data) standards for data la yer design of shipbuilding informatization platform.This paper focuses on advanced manufacturing PDM system, with the design ideas of using the system structure and architecture, in view of shipbuilding informatization demands for PDM system,we establish the integrated framework of shipbuilding informatization PDM system, Then, in depth study of the ship STEP standards, based on characteristic of the data management of the ship, we propose the design plan that shipbuilding informatization PDM platform based on STEP, further, in this scenario, taking the application of the ship welding process as reference, we study the problem of establishment for data shared model of PDM system, at the same time, based on the STEP neutral file that the STEP standard provides, we design the interface between the shared model and application system.Finally the paper makes analysis and programming for the operability of the data sharing model. by making the complex welding process of ship manufacturing industry embedded in the solution, the research results is proved feasible and provide an engineering reference for the construction of shipbuilding informatization to solve data sharing problems. Meanwhile, the paper makes summary and outlook for the deficiencies identified during the study and deeper study for shipbuilding informatization.
