Research Of Product Information Model And Parts Library System Based On STEP

This paper discusses the STEP detailed. It introduces the research and application situation inland and overseas. It also gives a product information model according to STEP and build the parts library and its manage system. It designs the interface between parts library and CAD CAPP or NCP and provides the advantages to combine CAD/CAM/CAPP.The system is designed according to the mechanism of CAD Standard Part Graphies Files. SQL Server 2000 is selected as the host and construct the database of part liabrary due to characteristic parameter. STEP, viz. ISO 10303, is issued by international standardization organization, and here ,this paper gives the definition of product information model oriented part41 and part44 in STEP and six basic definienses which describe the product information to ensure the information in the product information model correct and shareable . This paper also presents method of creating and extracting product information on engineering draught and product data exchange and integration between CAD system and database manager system.Purpose of research work is realized by two main program modules. The drafting aided tool on engineering draught is based on ActiveX Automation to develop the AutoCAD 2002.This module not only can enhance efficiency in plotting. The most important is offering base of creating and extracting information for the product information model.
