As the highway is constructed constantly, requiring a set of efficient, stable, secure communication system to ensure security. The highway communication system comprises a service processing and service delivery in two dimensions, the business processing layer completes the conversion of signal and protocol, while business transfer layer achieves signal remote transmission. As an important part of the communication system, transmission system provides the transmission channel of the necessary data, image and voice information to take the highway operation management, real time monitoring and toll collection system into practice, to ensure the highway traffic operation safe, high-speed, smooth, comfortable and efficient. Transmission system also plays the role of the central nervous in highway management system.As the highway business grow with each passing day, the growth point of mechanical and electrical industry transforms from communications services using the phone as the representative to the information service with the data as the representative. Because of the variety, asymmetry, sudden characteristic of volume of business, the traditional SDH optical fiber communication network structure which uses fractional time-division multiplexing method, with a constant symmetric traffic in TB and oriented circuit switching mode is not ideal. In order to effectively solve the above problems, a kind of novel network architecture ASON emerges as the times require.Intelligent optical network (ASON) is also called automatic switched optical network, is a flexible, high scalable optical network which provides services on-demand. The characteristics of ASON lies in the signaling network control to complete function of automatic exchange of optical network connection, and that the control plane was introduced to optical transmission network to realize cyber source configuration on-demand real-time and dynamically, optimize the use of WDM network wavelength resource, thereby realize the Automatic switched optical network.Automatic switched optical network (ASON) is the integration of transmission and exchange, which are the two communications technology characteristics, the data transmission is compatible with SDH and MSTP mapping, multiplexing and interface technology, inheriting the optical network's variety of service access, data transmission without error and delay and other technical advantages. In network control, Automatic switched optical network studies the sophisticated technology of the data communication, realizing the network's intelligent control by OSPF, RSVP and other routing protocols and signaling.Automatic switched optical network provides a good choice for the construction of intelligent network by Many benefits, such as its bandwidth can be automatically adjusted, circuit's automatic configuration, rapid response for business, network security and flexible expansibility of network. In conclusion, this paper studies the system structure and technical characteristics of intelligent optical network and the intelligent optical network will be used in the project of the construction of Jiang Yan Highway communication system. The project is in strict accordance with the overall planning and national regulations, norms, and the basic design principles of highway communication system, combining with the Jiang Yan highway traffic current situation to make a detailed design planning on the equipment selection and technology application to establish the high intelligent highway transport system, achieve the goals of the project.After using ASON Technology into Jiang Yan highway Project, the traditional multilayer complex network structure becomes simple and flat, optical network layer directly bears business, avoiding the traditional network business being subjected to multiple constraints when upgrading. ASON technology satisfies the users'demand such as dynamic allocation of resources, effective ability of protection restoration as well as the wavelength application of new business areas and so on, making a significant contribution for the highway communication system's highly efficient and stable operation.
