With the increasing speed of the train and the continuous increasing of overloaded train, developing a portable, inexpensive, vehicle-mounted tracks flatness tester, which can monitor and locate the flatness dynamically and timely, has great practical value and social benefits for figuring out the fault causes train vibration in time. Besides, it can ensure railway transport safety and improve the smoothness and amenity of train operation.A tracks flatness testing device, which consists of UPS power, YZ-6 type magnetic velocity sensor, C8051F020 MCU, HOLUX M-89 GPS receiver and laptop, is developed in this paper. It realizes the real-time detection of the vibration caused by the rough pavement and limit alarm on the point of failure. The device links with GPS by sensors, and then locates the fault point on the electronic map through the satellite system. Besides design of hardware structure, through studying C8051F020 MCU registers, serial port, port and other features, outside analog signals are converted to digital signals by using ADC and the voltage values of vibration signal are showed on the LCD and then raise the alarm through diode. Moreover, using the C language, MCU initialization, A/D converting and display and alarm program design are completed, and the program is debugged by simulation software Keil uVision3. In addition, the MSComm control of VB is used for realizing the serial port communication not only between computer and MCU, but also between computer and GPS, and finally, the alarm interface design of tester is completed. The research content provides the research methods with reference value for the localization of track flatness test equipment, which is needed by China's rapid developed high-speed railway and motor car.
