Six degree-of-freedom (DOF) accelerometer is used to sense or to measure thethree-DOF linear acceleration and the three-DOF angular acceleration of moving objectsrelative to the inertial reference frame in three-dimensional space. The technology ofsensing and measuring has broad application prospects in areas such as robot-controlsystems, navigation systems, earthquake-prediction systems and so on, which draws evermore attention. As it is still in the initial stage and has not yet mature at home and abroad, there are several practical problems to solve, which constrains the practicability of thesix-DOF accelerometer.Based on the six-DOF accelerometer, the mathematical model of generalizedacceleration measurement is established, the analytic expression between generalizedacceleration and experimental electrical signal is given, the major components is designedand the prototype is made. On the conclusion of the previous research, the static principleof6-SSR is analyzed and experiment device is designed for weight test of staticcalibration. The Jacobian calibration matrix of the sensor is decoupled and solved with thetest data, and the practical static parameters are calculated according to the matrix.Dynamic calibration tests with step-response method and shock-response method arecarried out respectively. The test data is pretreated and analyzed by images, the timedomain difference under different dynamic loads in all directions is used to analyze thedynamic characteristics of the sensor, comparision is made between the two methods andfinally the dynamic calibration curves of the sensor are given.
