In recent years, more and more applications of electronic control are using inautomotive system. The requirement on automotive electronics products is much higherthan before, especially on the reliability. The testing is the key point to ensure goodquality of such products. In this paper, a deep study is done on the automatic test systemof transmission control module, and develops a test system which can be used in massproduction of modern industry, include the selection of instrument hardware, design andconnection of system structure, test software and test system debugging and verification.The vitual instrument technology is used in this automatic test system. Thehardware structure is based on VXI bus mainframe, include these indruments: digitalmulti-meter, DAQ, function generator, relay matrix, high-power relay matrix and theinterface boards. The software platform is based on NI Labwindows/CVI. This paperfinishs the control and recall on each instrument cards, the test data analysis and handling,the indicator display of testing progress, the output and storage of final test results. Thefriendly user interface is also considered in the test software.This automatic test system has been used in production of transmission controlmodule for a period, it's very stable and can meet the requirement of production capacity,achieve the goals of system design.
