Internet is widely used in almost all areas of our social activity. However, the current network infrastructure hardly meet the needs of the large-scale network services and applications in the fields of scalability, security, quality of service, mobility etc. The much-anticipated tri-networks integration, internet of things, cloud computing, IPv6, etc, propose several unprecedented challenges for the development of the next generation Internet. As we know, experiments play a very important role in networking research. Conducting experiments in the large scale experimental network is the most convincing way in the networking research, so the research of the Internet experimental platform used to build large-scale experimental network is key of internet innovation.Based on the instruction of existing experimental platform, to the disadvantages of existing experimental platform and the features of next-generation experimental platform, this thesis designs and develops a programmable, reconfigurable, and extensible model -- OpenREP model. Then, for OpenREP's need of efficient and reliable pre-made function module, this thesis proposes a new packet processing model -- EasySwitch model. Finally, according to the idea of OpenREP model and EasySwitch model, this thesis develops an experimental platform called NetMagic and an instance of network delay measurement. The main contributions of this paper are listed as follows:(1) Based on the three design requirements of network platform that are open, network controlled, and customized, this thesis proposes a model called OpenREP. This model has very important value in theory and guidance of the next-generation internet experimental platform.(2)To support the development of OpenREP model based on the user module, this thesis proposes an efficient and reliable packet processing model– EasySwitch model. By pre-placing the common packet switching and processing functions, EasySwitch decouples the customized packet processing logic and the common packet processing logic. Well-defined standard interfaces using User Module socket allow the users to focus on implementing their own logic.(3)Finally, based on the ideas of OpenREP model and EasySwitch model, this thesis develops an experimental platform called NetMagic and an instance of network delay measurement.This thesis concludes that both OpenREP model and EasySwitch model can have important value in theory and guidance of the next-generation internet experimental platform.
