Eye tracking techonology is one of the most important techonology in the field of computer vision. It will be wildly applied in the fields of bionics, psychology and human-computer interaction. Improving the the accuracy, real-time performance and portability is a trend of of eye tracking system. The improvement of portability will expand the application range of eye tracking technology especially. Traditional non-contact eye tracking system is mostly built based on PC. Embedded eye tracking system will greatly improve its portability. Such an embedded eye tracking system needs its hardware having higher processing performance and fast data transfer ability. This paper provides a DSP based embedded eye tracking system. Eye movement pictures captured by web cam are transferred to embedded hardware system by gigabit ethernet. After processed by DSP, the points of human eyes interst will be displayed on screen.This paper described the research background and significance of embedded eye tracking system, analyzed existing embedded eye tracking system of domestic and abroad, described the designing feasibility of DSP based eye tracking system. First introduced the eye tracking algorithm based on 3D, employed a DSP based eye tracking hardware system, and analyzed its hardware resource in detail. Then implemented the programming of the DPS ethernet driver, data transfer experiments were done, transplanted the eye tracking algorithm from PC to DSP and optimized some core codes. Finally, built eye tracking software system and analyzed experiment results.
