With the appearance of DWDM and MI-Optical Network Technology, the capacity of communication expands greatly. But there exists no universal standard to adapt II?layer and optical physical layer. The paper discusses the advantages and disadvantages of IP/SDH/DWDM and IP/Ethernet!DWDM. Platform used to solve the problems is then presented. The feasible methods are given to solve the problems in connection with frame selection and multiplexing and demultiplexing. Using I-IEC policy to demutiplex ethernet frames and buffer to separate ethernet interface from optical interface clock, the paper accomplishes the design of ethernet interface and buffer.
