With the rapid development of Internet and communications technology, high quality real-time video transmission technology is being paid more and more attention, and the national promotion "three net integration" technology offers higher demands for high quality video transmission. At present, however, video transmission solutions can not work with high performance as being restricted by terminal computing power and network bandwidth.The international telecommunication union organization formulated a series of video codec standards for multimedia communications effectively used in the limited bandwidth. At present, h.264 is generally considered to be the most influential industry standards and is much better than previous standards in the video quality, compression ratio, data packets lost etc.It can't meet the requirement of the video resolution for the speed of processor using of S/W h.264 codec,especially for the filed of embeded system. The more popular transport scheme is based on the use of H/W h. 264 codec and accomplish software for video capture,codec and transmission .Video real-time transmission using of H/W h.264codec,including S3C6410 based embeded platform,Linux os and Real-time Transport Protocol. Designing and implementing video transmission system on ethernet based on H.264 H/W codec, mainly consist of video capture module,video codec module,video transmission module,video receive module.The experiment shows that the video transmission is effective and can be used in actual application with such picture quality and delay.
