With the development of computer technology and communication technology, the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) equipment has become the dominant force in the field of industrial control for its openness. After years of development and renewal, the Human-Machine Interface (HMI), as a display and monitor module, its operation become more and more convenient. As a result of the lacking of the international standard between PLC communications, it's difficult for the HMI to compatible with variety PLC equipments. At present in the market, most of the advanced HMI productions were designed and produced by foreign manufacturer. Therefore, it's important to develop a HMI system, with highly reliability and compatibility, for the development of industrial control in China. It'll not only reduce the dependence on imported products, but also reduce the cost of industrial control systems, and will greatly promote the development of domestic industrial control.In order to develop a HMI with reconfigurable communication interface, this paper proposed a design of frame structure and function modules of HMI, realized the system and completed the test. This paper firstly introduced the history and actuality of the HMI and the reconfigurable theory. Based on the analysis of system requirements and reconfigurable theory, a novel system frame structure was brought forward, and the implementation of reconfigurable communication in this frame was discussed. Secondly, this paper researched the design and realization of the hardware and software in HMI system, and proposed the design method of reconfigurable communication in details, including designation of the configuration software based on VC++6.0 and application software based on embedded Linux. Finally the paper took Omron Corporation's PLC production and Panasonic Corporation's production as an implantation case, concretely realized the HMI reconfigurable communication, and proved the reliability of HMI system and feasibility of reconfigurable communication by strait testing.At the end of this paper, some thoughts were given to discuss the improvement of the Human-Machine Interface.
