The development and wide application of embedded systems is an important sign in the post-PC era. Embedded system as an important computer applications area has been deep into all aspects of social life, and a wide range of new equipment in the application of embedded system has far exceeded the number of general-purpose computers. At present, the demand for intelligent control in industrial, medical and health, national defense and other sectors is growing, embedded human-machine interface can be used as a multi-field monitoring equipment, it has these advantages: can do operations, showing in the same time; simple manipulate, interactive convenient, flexible control, and can relief people out of buttons, set the parameters, indicator and display devices, resulting in improved production efficiency. Therefore, the development of embedded systems running on general-purpose man-machine interface is a technology development and the inevitable result of market demand.This paper described how to set up a multi-chip hardware platform using PXA255 processor as the center, with storage, communications and multimedia peripherals, and set up a software platform running on the hardware platform with the WindowsCE operating system development tools, the hardware platform and software platform constituted the main part of the human-machine interface. The embedded system based on PXA255 applications processor and WindowsCE operating system will help promote the development of electronic technology in the industrial fields.Hardware design in part on how to design system circuit based on PXA255 processor, external system circuit module including eight parts of the design modules: memory module, power and reset module, Ethernet module, USB interface module, industrial 485 and UART serial port module, print and parallel port module, touch screen control interface module, CF card interface module.Part of the embedded software design of human-machine interface development environment and runtime environment are discussed. It introduced human-machine interface of the function and architecture, the design of the communication engineering management module, project file storage and analysis module. And I focused on the design of the reconfigurable communication module and communication task scheduling.Finally, the work done for this paper is summarized, and we discussed the problems still exist and can be improved for the relevance design aspects of human-computer interface.
