To meet the the demand of mobile users for broadband services, 3GPP carried out the evolution of 3G systems, named LTE (Long Term Evolution). With the rapid development of LTE systems, 3GPP gradually began to research the LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) system, and focus on carrier aggregation (CA) to resolve the problem of bandwide expansion and the requirement of higer transmission rate, and to ensure backward compatibility. The introduction of CA has brought a series of new problem to resource assignment in LTE-A system, such as carrier load balancing. LTE-A system is capatible with LTE, that is two kinds of users coexistent in LTE-A system, which may make some influence to the performance of the system in resolving the problem of system resource scheduling. This paper study the multi-user resource scheduling problem in LTE-A system with CA, both theoretical analysis and simulation result are given to research the resource deployment, which in the condition of two kinds of uers. This paper fist gives a brief introduction to the LTE/LTE-A system, including the system and protocol architecture. and analyzes the implementations of the carrier aggregation, then briefly analyzes other key technologies in LTE-A system. Next, we study the resources deployment of CA in LTE-A, and introuduce two methos of carrier load balancing, that is least queue and random assignment; Given to the scheduling algorithm, we design a kind of full carrier scheduling algorithm based on the proportional fair algorithm. When calculate the average transfer rate, the full carrier scheduling algorithm only cumulative the throughput in every component carrier, resulting in low complex in system desining. In addition, this article make a theoretical analyze to carrier load balancing methos: least queue and random assign, and analyze the scheduling algorithm by the theoretical modeling and simulation. Comparing the results of theory and simulation, we get the features of the two load balancing methos. Besides, we also evaluate the full carrier scheduling algorithm by simulation. Finally, we conclude that when using the least load balancing methos and full carrier scheduling algorithm, the system has good cell edge throughput performance.
