Media Research In Public Crisis Communication

Being an integral part of society ,mass media has always taken an important role in the developing of information society. With facing a series of emergency, such as"SARA crisis","3?14 Lasa event","5?12 Wenchuan Earthquake","poisonous milk powder event",China has been progressing continuously in the angle of information publicity of government and dealing with crisis in recent years, which has played an active role in promoting media to participate in common crisis. Though public crisis has resulted in bad impact on the development of human society, it has also brought new topics on crisis's communication for mass media at the same time.Foreign media, especially the western media, generally have a sense of crisis and gradually establish a set of transmission mechanism both highly effective and standard in their long-time crisis's communication. Thus for Chinese media it possesses large reference value without any doubt to analyze their performance in public crisis's communication and their experience. In this context, I at first extract features and performance of foreign media when communicating crisis from a couple of classical literature on crisis's communication and cases, and compare with Chinese media so as to conclude our problems of communicating common crisis. Then based on the cases of common crisis happened in Chain over the few years , I make a deeply analysis of the function and role Chinese media played in communicating crisis. Finally I put up with several positive advice and strategies on improving our performance in crisis communication.Overall, Chinese media obtain a certain Autonomy in communicating crisis with the establishment of information publicity of government, but they are still bounded in some fields. Although the concept of public crisis communication has been greatly improved, further correctness of the communication means need to be carried out. Media has become the main platform for crisis communication,but the sense of social responsibility and the spirit of self-discipline are to be strengthened.
