The High-speed development of grid technology made more stringent network performance requirements, and optical network, with its characteristics of large bandwidth, low latency, low cost, and high reliability, is becoming the topmost important grid resources, thus, the concept of photonic grid came into being. The technology of optical network bandwidth virtualization has gradually become a hot research in grid field. This thesis analyzes the main problems optical network bandwidth virtualization facing and the research significance. With the optical grid architecture, the technology of optical network bandwidth virtualization for grid application has been studied.Firstly, we studied the optical grid resources and its characteristics, and with the traditional optical grid architecture,we bring two layer bandwidth virtualization model. Secondly, we virtualize and abstract the action and attribute of grid network bandwidth resource. At last, we give the critical API of this model, including user plane and control plane. In the process of bandwidth service providing, the"first fit resource"algorithm is used in order to respond quickly. When deal with the multi-user service requirements, we adopt synchronization mechanism , which effectively solved the potential contradiction. The emluator is built with C++ language under the environment of Visual C++6.0. XML Criterion is taked for data storage. Bandwidth resource pool creation, user bandwidth service requirement and termination operation are implemented via calling those APIs given by this thesis, which verify the availability and validity of two layer bandwidth virtualization model.
